There were times when I could walk/run during scheduled times. With work and you all being on the other side of town makes it hard. But I don’t stop meeting the S.T.A.R.S goal and what we stand for. Between Zumba and walking at work (stairs are killing me J) I’m still doing what I can to represent S.T.A.R.S.
Who else but God would have made it possible for a person like me to be at death's door with a stroke , paralyzed, battling Ulcerative Colitis,
learning how to walk/talk and just function all over again. It has been an uphill battle since 2005. I did this to support awareness. In memory of my father who passed away 4 years ago of bile duct cancer, Malinda Sapp, Janice Johnson, my mom, my aunt and others I know who had an encounter with some form of cancer.
I must say that I never expected to feel so great AFTER my first “timed” event ( I really did not know what that meant). :-) Well, as I was celebrating with Aliya for her age division win, I walk over and notice my name on the list of the top 10 for people in my age bracket 45-49. WOW! What a mighty God we serve I’m singing “I never would have made it.” “I win.” “He gave me one more chance”. A special thanks goes out to S.T.A.R.S. sisters Aliyaa and Erin who have encouraged me through-out my journey! From Erin helping me in the hospital to her and Aliya empowering me with ZUMBA!
Today I am back in the grind with my S.T.A.R.S sisters. Thank you to one of my ride or die girls Lisa Dye Norris for becoming my accountability partner. I enjoy meeting new S.T.A.R.S. It only gets better from here!
Love you guys.
