Fit at 40! That is my goal among other things in my life.
Jokingly, I tell everyone I am trying to reach MILF (Google it) status! LOL! What I do know is that my life has to continue to change if I am to reach my goal. Currently, I have cut way down on sugar especially my love affair with chocolate. I love it, but it isn’t good for me. Not because of its deliciousness, but because I am allergic to it. I will break out in hives and give myself headaches for it, but since I’ve cut back on it I can feel the difference in my body. We all have our “guilty treats” and mine just happens to be the best thing on earth. I am pretty sure I am biased! LOL! I am doing cardio 6 days a week and strength training 3 of those days. One of my steps for being fit involves running. I am using the Couch to 10k app for improving my time.
It is my goal to run nonstop for 6.2 miles. There are days I think I am crazy for torturing myself with running because I have a love hate relationship with it. When I complete a run I feel accomplished, and when I miss a run I feel mixed emotions ranging from guilt/relief to joy. And yet, I make myself get back on the treadmill and do it again. I love it and hate it and I tell myself I am done with it, but then I miss it. The funny thing is that whenever I am completely ready to throw in the towel I view a post on Facebook that reminds me that my goal is to be fit at 40, and then I am motivated to keep going. The most recent challenge by Black Girls Run is what has caused me to work out 6 days a week. I give myself one day of rest (which is Sunday) because even God took a day off. If He did, then I know I should. LOL! I am learning more about myself daily as I strive to meet my goal. I know that I am a CONQUEROR and that I can do ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST THAT STRENGTHENS ME! These are the two things that I say to myself when I am tired and ready to stop working out. These are also my intentional thoughts during my yoga practice. With these two things I know that I will be able to achieve my goal of being fit at 40! So I encourage each of you to stay the course and keep running the race towards better health.
