A Mom on the Move

In 2013 Senita Lenear becomes the first African American woman to serve as Grand Rapids City Commissioner. A graduate of Grand Rapids Public Schools Creston High (Go Polar Bears!), Commissioner Lenear has focused her community service around, among other important issues, strengthening institutions of education for children, ensuring safe neighborhoods and building greater racial equity and inclusion. Tonight she will be honored with the Walter Coe Public Service Award at the 2016 Giant Awards.
